It may sound far-fetched, but good BBQ and good lighting actually have a lot in common.
At a BBQ, people want to:
- Eat good food;
- Relax;
- Enjoy; and
- Have fun.
Good lighting enables:
- A good, clean and safe environment;
- More fun as the span of a day can be extended beyond daylight hours;
- Relaxation, as
lighting can influence mood and promote a feeling of safety; and - People to work and enjoy the space.
As you can see, a lot of the things that people look for at a BBQ are mirrored by the things people look for in good lighting. But the similarities don’t end there.
You need to start somewhere basic with lighting. Its first purpose is to illuminate a space. From that basic mandate, lighting designers can then customize your lighting to better suit your needs and preferences, for example, turn it into art, like with South Pointe Toyota’s ‘Toyota Tower’ display.
The same can be said with BBQ. At its most basic purpose, BBQ is supposed to nourish you. A good chef, like a good lighting designer, then elevates the dish to become something that better suits your needs (i.e. your dietary preferences and tastes). Some burgers have even been called works of at by some experts.
At Calgary Lighting Products, we love good lighting AND good BBQ! We hold an annual appreciation BBQ for our clients, contractors, building managers, and friends. This
