Lights are used in many art installations, creating unique sculptures of different shapes and sizes that can be found in urban and natural environments. Here in Calgary, the city prides itself on being a home for artistic expression, with many art installations and exhibits incorporating light fixtures. We can find light-based art in the city’s architecture, for example, the Peace Bridge (see the image at the top of this post) or Calgary’s Telus Spark Science Centre. Even the Calgary Tower has an alternating LED light display.

This city also plays host to a number of different lighting displays and exhibitions throughout the year. As we highlighted in a previous blog, the Calgary Zoo is holding Illuminasia – an LED lantern exhibition – right now, and of course during the holidays, elaborate and artistic light displays pop up across the city.
