LED Buying Guide – UL Listed

Another certification commonly found on different bulbs is the UL Listed symbol. If a product bears this symbol that means it meets UL requirements. So, what exactly does that mean?

UL is an independent consulting agency, approved by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration agency (OSHA). The OSHA provides testing and safety certifications to manufacturers, retailers, companies, etc. There are several different terms associated with UL Certification, including “UL Approved,”. “UL Listed,” “UL Recognized,” and “UL Classified”.

There is also another variation in Canada: ULC Mark Product Certification. Products using the ULC Listed mark are certified using the Canadian Safety Scheme and meet the requirements for safety that are associated with fire, shock, and other hazards.
