Each month we have been highlighting an awesome light installation in and around Calgary.
This month we’re reflecting on the work we did at three Kinjo Sushi locations in Calgary – Dalhousie, Macleod, and Millrise.
While we can’t take credit for the unique fixtures, we can take responsibility for the entire halogen to LED retrofit at each location.
We replaced the incandescent halogen area lights with energy efficient LED lamps. We also did a colour match to ensure that the new LEDs gave off the same ambiance as the incandescent halogens, making sure that the mood in the restaurants remained the same as the owners wanted.
Power consumption savings were very important for this project, as the lights in the restaurants are on for at least 10 hours a day. At each location we converted the following lamps:
- 50 watts to 10 watts
- 75 watts to 14 watts
- 60 watts to 10 watts
The retrofit will ultimately save Kinjo sushi just over $3,000 a year in power consumption, and over the life of the lamps it will save $16,000. The retrofit also cuts back on labour costs and replacements. LEDs don’t depreciate over time like fluorescents do!
At the end of the day, the retrofit left Kinjo with piece of mind – they’ll always have nice lights, and awesome sushi!
