What is an LED Retrofit? An LED Retrofit is when you update your existing lighting solution to LED lighting. It can be one of the most important capital projects that any business or property owner will undertake.

The three main reasons to get an energy audit done are:

LEDs, which stands for Light Emitting Diodes, use light-emitting diodes as the light source. There are some great benefits to LED lights. Though the base cost per bulb is more than with halogens, LEDs are designed to save you money by using less energy over time; effectively reducing your energy costs. In addition, LED lights are warrantied to last a certain length of time whereas traditional bulbs, including CFL spirals, aren’t.

In addition to the three points listed above, LEDs can lead to:

  • Increased worker productivity, for either your team or your tenants’ employees
  • Improvement of the space
  • Higher rent as the space is more aesthetically pleasing
  • A sparkle effect – LEDs are ‘sexy’ and ‘cool’

What are the areas of your building that you should consider LED retrofitting?

How do you know if you are ready for a LED retrofit? In our post ‘What is an Energy Audit?’, we discuss extensively how building managers and property owners can figure out if the investment in switching to LEDs would be worth it, and some of the other things to consider when looking at implementing a lighting retrofit.
