With so many different LED options available, it can be tough picking out the right one for your lighting needs. That’s why each month our ‘LED Buying Guide’ will bring you some tips and tricks. This will help you make a better-educated decision when purchasing your next LED bulbs and fixtures.
This month we’re talking about light color temperature! Measured in Kelvin, color temperature is used to describe the color emitted by a lamp.
LED bulbs come in four different variations to fit the mood and light intensity you’re looking for. Each variation has a temperature (i.e. “2700K”) and a tone (i.e. “Soft White”).
- Warm White 2700K/Soft White: This temperature provides a warm and relaxing environment due to its lower lumen output. It has a yellow color tone similar to traditional incandescent and halogen lights.
- Warm White 3000K: The warm white is good for creating an inviting ambiance. It produces a color tone closer to yellow but provides brighter light.
- Neutral White 4000K/Pure White: Neutral white is recommended if you’re looking for a clean color or want to see things in greater detail. It has no hints of yellow or blue and has a higher lumen output than both of the warm white color temperatures.
- Cool White 5000K/Daylight: This variation is close to the color of the sky on a sunny day. It’s considered to be the most energetic light color due to its intensity as it has the greatest lumen output.
Stay tuned in the coming months as we continue to bring you more information and advice on LED lighting!
